'Flowers for Antonio' Documentary Featuring Alba Flores to Premiere in Theaters on October 10

Jun 3, 2025, 10:37

On October 10, 2025, Movistar Plus+ will launch the documentary Flowers for Antonio in Spanish theaters. Directed by Elena Molina and Isaki Lacuesta, the film presents a retrospective of musician Antonio Flores' life and work, as seen through the perspective of his daughter, actress Alba Flores.

This project marks the 30th anniversary of Antonio Flores' passing on May 30, 1995. Spanning roughly 90 minutes, the documentary weaves together archival footage—including home videos, photographs, and concerts—with rare interviews and family discussions to chart his artistic journey. Alba Flores engages with her mother Ana Villa, her aunts Lolita and Rosario Flores, along with musicians and friends like Antonio Carmona, Ariel Rot, Joaquín Sabina, and Sílvia Pérez Cruz.

Through this undertaking, Alba Flores aims to underscore the "artistic and familial legacy" of her father and how "his presence has inspired us in empathy, friendship, and celebrating life." The film features Isaki Lacuesta, a Goya Award winner for Best Director with Segundo premio, and the latest recipient of the Biznaga de Oro at the Málaga Festival. It presents a fresh perspective on Spanish non-fiction with Elena Molina, director of Remember my name, which won the Audience Award at the Málaga Festival.

Produced collaboratively by Flower Power Producciones, LACOproductora, Caballo Films, Boomerang TV, and Flores para Antonio AIE, the documentary received funding from the ICAA and the Community of Madrid. Filming took place in various locations in Madrid and the province of Cádiz, notably in Jerez de la Frontera.

Distribution in theaters will be managed by A Contracorriente Films. After its cinematic release, the documentary will be exclusively available on the Movistar Plus+ platform. Goodfellas will handle international sales.
