Tragic Fire Claims Lives at Drug Rehabilitation Center in Guanajuato
A devastating fire erupted in a drug rehabilitation center located in San José Iturbide, Guanajuato, resulting in the tragic loss of at least twelve lives. This incident occurred on Sunday at the "Volver a vivir 24 horas A.C." center, situated in the Loma de Buenavista community. Authorities are currently engaged in a thorough investigation to determine the origins of this catastrophic event.
In recent years, the region has witnessed a troubling pattern of incidents at various drug detoxification programs. Just last May, another fire broke out at a different rehabilitation facility within the state, attributed to an electrical short circuit; fortunately, that incident did not result in any fatalities.
The state of Guanajuato has not been a stranger to violence and tragedy in these facilities. In a harrowing event in 2020, gunmen stormed a rehabilitation center in Irapuato, brutally killing 24 individuals. These recurring incidents highlight the urgent need for enhanced safety measures and security protocols in rehabilitation centers across the region.
