Bonoloto: A Staple of Spanish Lottery Culture
The
Bonoloto stands as a hallmark in the Spanish lottery landscape, with draws held every evening from Monday to Sunday at the
State Lotteries and Betting Hall. Since its official inception in
1988, this game has evolved into one of the most popular lotteries across Spain. Organized by
State Lotteries and Betting, the game employs a multi-drum system to ensure fair and random outcomes.
This lottery offers a range of
prize categories, each determined by how many numbers a participant manages to match with the winning combination. The prize tiers are structured as follows: the
first category requires matching all six numbers, the
second category demands five numbers and the complementary number, and the subsequent categories require five, four, and three matches, with a
refund option as well. The prize amounts fluctuate based on the total
revenue collected and the number of winners in each category.
Participants are tasked with selecting a minimum of six numbers from a pool ranging from 1 to 49 for each wager. These numbers can be manually chosen or randomly generated by the lottery administration's machine. Options include
simple bets, involving the selection of six numbers, or
multiple bets, allowing for the selection of more than six numbers (up to 11) or as few as five numbers per bet.
The cost of participating is set at
€0.50 per bet, but players must purchase tickets worth at least
€1, necessitating at least two bets if participating in a single draw. Each draw not only identifies six winning numbers but also an additional
complementary number and a
refund number ranging from 0 to 9.
The Bonoloto draws take place daily at
9:30 PM and can be watched live via the official
State Lotteries and Betting website. Once the draw concludes, the winning numbers can be verified on the same official site as well as through the website of
EL PAÍS.
