Javier Milei Returns to Spain as a Star at a Crypto-Financed Forum

Jun 2, 2025, 16:45

Javier Milei, the Argentine president, is making waves as he returns to Spain to headline an economic event sponsored by a cryptocurrency trading platform. Joining him are TV personality Iker Jiménez and notable figures from Spain's right-wing history, including Esperanza Aguirre and Albert Rivera. Despite a recent crisis linked to the dubious cryptocurrency $Libra, Milei has confirmed his attendance at the Madrid Economic Forum, set for June 8.

The forum, funded solely by Spanish crypto platform Bit2Me, is organized by two companies: the consulting firm Racks Labs, co-founded by social media influencer Wall Street Wolverine, and Abast, which advises clients with interests in tax-friendly Andorra. The event's organizers emphasize the absence of active Spanish politicians among participants.

Among those attending are political commentator Agustín Laje, former Vox spokesperson Iván Espinosa de los Monteros, and businessman Martín Varsavsky, who has threatened to leave Spain over its current government. The event features a range of speakers, from economists like Daniel Lacalle to conspiracy theorists like Pedro Buerbaum.

The forum organizers tout it as "Spain's most influential economic and business event," yet its lineup includes not just economists, but also politicians and agitators. The event will see Milei share the stage with other speakers on Sunday. Tickets range from €150 to a €7,500 "diamond" package, which includes exclusive VIP events.

Helena de Torres, the forum's coordinator, highlights the achievement of securing entirely private funding and anticipates selling over 5,000 of the 9,000 available tickets, marking a successful turnout. Despite inquiries about the potential impact of the $Libra scandal on Milei's participation, the forum's organizers report no issues.

This marks Milei's third visit to Spain since becoming president in 2023, with previous visits sparking diplomatic incidents and earning accolades. His return is seen as akin to having a football superstar like Messi or Ronaldo, underscoring his high-profile status.
