Successful Celebration at the Alcorcón “Play 3x3 AS Fest”

Jun 2, 2025, 15:58

Alcorcón was alive with excitement. The venue dedicated to tournaments was buzzing with energy as each match unfolded, each game played, and every ball contested. The atmosphere was electric with every freestyle battle, concert, and band performance. This was the essence of the “Play 3x3 AS FEST” by Basketball Creators, which took place this past weekend on May 30-31 and June 1; a true celebration of basketball, 3x3 competitions, and urban culture.

“Alcorcón stands as a beacon not only for women's sports but also urban culture,” stated Carmen Martín, Councilor for Youth, Diversity, Technological Innovation, and Sports, during the event's introduction last Monday. “This commitment aligns with our Alcorcón in Motion program, which we promote in sports to encourage street-level engagement.” Without a doubt, the event lived up to expectations.

Over three days, the venue was a hub of activity, with several influential teams in the 3x3 scene, both female and male (almost 600 participants in total), fiercely competing for over €4,000 in prizes. Additional rewards included spots in future tournaments and, of course, the prestige of being named champions. This was the daily experience at the X-Madrid Shopping Center.

The event kicked off on Friday, May 31, with the CEU 25 Spanish University Basketball Championship. The morning was dedicated to group stages, while the afternoon saw the round of 16 unfold. Juana Camilión, gold medalist at the 3x3 Europe Cup 2024 and silver medalist at the Paris Olympics, graced the event with her presence.

The following day featured the CEU25 Finals, where the University of Seville triumphed in the female category, and the University of Valencia claimed victory in the male division. Sunday marked the event's conclusion and the distribution of awards. In the 3x3 U17 Madrid championship, Estudiantes emerged victorious in the female category, whereas SBA clinched the gold in the male category. The PRO female competition was fiercely contested, with Belgium eventually taking the top spot against Electromercantil Getafe. Morgane Armant was named MVP.

In the PRO male competition, Raudondvaris Hoptrans secured victory, arguably one of the most prominent teams of the tournament. Their MVP was Aurejulis Pukelis, recognized as one of the tournament's top players. They overcame a determined Netherlands team, which had made an impressive run by eliminating Vienna in the semifinals.
