Political Shifts in Spain: PSOE Closes Gap with PP, Sánchez Leads in Approval
According to the latest 40dB. barometer, commissioned by EL PAÍS and Cadena SER, Spain's political landscape is witnessing significant changes. The Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) has been making noticeable strides towards closing the gap with the People's Party (PP), yet the latter remains the party with the strongest backing.
The survey highlights that Pedro Sánchez stands out as the most favored leader, with 24.6% of respondents identifying him as the best potential president for the nation. Despite his individual popularity, the survey also reveals a pervasive disillusionment with the political class. A notable 25.4% of participants expressed that none of the current leaders are suitable for the presidency, marking an increase of 10.4 points from 2023.
This data reflects a growing public sentiment of dissatisfaction amidst the political elite, pointing to underlying challenges that the Spanish political system faces in regaining public trust and confidence.
