Three-Hour Rescue of Woman After Eight-Meter Fall in Parking Lot

Jun 1, 2025, 12:46

It was a scene straight out of a movie. On Sunday morning, at around 10:30 AM, a car plummeted from the outdoor parking area of a Majadahonda shopping center into a deep pit leading into the covered parking space. The vehicle fell eight meters, wedged between tall walls. Inside, a 34-year-old woman driving and another passenger. The passenger managed to exit the overturned car on foot, but the woman was trapped between the steering wheel and the dashboard.

Firefighters from the Community of Madrid swiftly arrived at the site. Despite challenging access to the car's interior, they successfully freed the driver after nearly three hours of meticulous effort. Stabilized by SUMMA 112, she is now conscious and coherent at Puerta de Hierro Hospital, despite suffering multiple contusions.

The leading theory behind the accident suggests a potential error in vehicle operation at startup, although the police report is still pending. The rescue efforts were supported by SERMAJ and the local police of Majadahonda.
