Juan Roig: The Imperative for Courageous Enterprises and Entrepreneurs
The
Palacio de Congresos in Valencia recently hosted the graduation ceremony for EDEM's executive programs, where 125 students received their degrees in front of an audience exceeding 1,500, composed primarily of entrepreneurs, executives, and business leaders. This event marked the 20th anniversary of the
15x15 program, a flagship executive course at EDEM, which has been actively supported by Juan Roig, the president of
Mercadona.
This milestone was an opportunity to celebrate two decades of nurturing business leaders through a curriculum that is closely aligned with real-world industry dynamics. The ceremony was led by key figures including
Hortensia Roig, the president of EDEM, Juan Roig as the honorary president,
Elena Fernández, the managing director, and
Enrique Lores, the president and CEO of
HP, who served as the commencement speaker.
In her address, Hortensia Roig praised the enduring success of the 15x15 program, noting its impact on nearly 800 business leaders over the years. She emphasized the program's foundational principle: the direct engagement with the business reality. "We bring active executives into the classroom to provide students with real-world problem-solving experiences, ensuring they understand company dynamics from day one," she stated.
Juan Roig highlighted the unique aspect of EDEM as part of the
Marina de Empresas ecosystem alongside
Lanzadera and
Angels Capital, sharing a unified vision and approach to business and leadership. He stressed the essential role of entrepreneurs in driving economic and social progress, especially in uncertain times. "Society requires bold enterprises and entrepreneurs. Those with a clear model and vision can make tough decisions and emerge stronger. Entrepreneurs are the ones who propel the economy, creating jobs, wealth, and well-being," he asserted.
Enrique Lores reinforced the importance of continuous learning as a cornerstone of success. "In a constantly evolving world, the most successful leaders are those who never stop learning. The graduates of EDEM's executive programs have shown the mindset necessary to shape the future, leading change rather than merely reacting to it," he noted. "Every change in the environment is an opportunity, contingent upon the perspective we choose," he added.
The 15x15 program, now in its 20th edition, has established itself as one of the most prestigious executive courses nationally. Over 15 sessions, renowned business leaders share their insights and experiences with students. This edition saw participation from top executives of leading national and international firms.
The
Advanced Management Program (AMP) targets professionals with extensive management experience, while the modular
Executive MBA focuses on key business areas such as strategy, finance, and sales through EDEM's ABC programs. Lastly, the specialized
EMBA offers weekend courses allowing professionals to further their education without compromising their career commitments, with specializations available in Marketing, Finance, or Digital Business.
