RTVE Reduces Air Time for 'La familia de la tele' Starting June 2

May 30, 2025, 16:14

In response to the dwindling viewership that 'La familia de la tele' has experienced since its debut on May 5 on La 1, RTVE has made a strategic decision to cut back its airtime. Beginning Monday, June 2, the show's duration will be significantly shortened, airing only from 3:50 PM to 5:00 PM.

This revised schedule, revealed this Friday, dictates that at 5:00 PM, the daily episode of 'Valle salvaje' will commence, followed by the network's highlight series, 'La Promesa', at 5:50 PM. Concluding the daily series block, a new segment titled 'El club de La Promesa' will air at 7:00 PM, where fans will discuss the episode's key moments.

Following this fiction-focused period, at 7:15 PM, new installments of 'El cazador stars', the celebrity version of the quiz show hosted by Gorka Rodríguez, will be broadcast. To wrap up the weekday afternoons on La 1, the magazine show 'Aquí la Tierra', hosted by Jacob Petrus, will continue its regular slot at 8:20 PM. These programming adjustments were communicated by TVE this Friday through a press release and social media.

Consequently, the second segment of 'La familia de la tele', which used to air after 'La Promesa' and had progressively diminished in presence over time, will be permanently removed from the lineup. This segment had consistently garnered the lowest ratings since the show's inception.

This Thursday, 'La familia de la tele' hit a new low for the second consecutive day, attracting an average of 579,000 viewers and a 7.7% audience share, according to data from Barlovento collected by Kantar Media. Moreover, it was dragging down 'La Promesa' and 'Valle salvaje' in its decline. On Thursday, 'La Promesa' recorded its worst viewership of the season, with an average of 871,000 viewers and a 12.6% share, while 'Valle salvaje' had 661,000 viewers and a 9.1% share. The second part of 'La familia de la tele' on Thursday attracted only an average of 395,000 viewers with a 5.7% share, which is lower than what 'El cazador' achieved before the arrival of the show hosted by María Patiño, Aitor Albizua, and Inés Hernand.

On Thursday, RTVE's president, José Pablo López, reiterated in Congress his support for the future of 'La familia de la tele'. "I need to convince myself that the program has no chance of recovery, and that conviction is not there today. Maybe it will be in a month... I prefer to make a mistake than not to try," he stated.
