Gigi and Bella Hadid Welcome an Unexpected Sister into Their Lives

May 30, 2025, 11:59

The renowned supermodels, Gigi and Bella Hadid, have recently announced the addition of a new sister on their father's side. Her name is Aydan Nix, born from a brief romance between Palestinian real estate mogul Mohamed Hadid and Terri Hatfield following his divorce from Dutch model Yolanda Hadid in 2001. This revelation was shared through a statement to the British tabloid Daily Mail on May 29. According to their declaration, Nix was raised in Florida by a man she believed was her father until his sudden passing when she was 19.

Driven by curiosity after her presumed father's death, Nix underwent a genetic test and discovered her link to the Hadid siblings. "We first connected at the end of 2023, and ever since, we've welcomed Aydan with open arms," the famous Hadid sisters shared. "She's spent time with us, including our dad, embracing this unexpected and lovely addition to our family," the statement continued. As siblings, they've had heartfelt and open discussions with Aydan about supporting and safeguarding her.

Thus, Nix becomes part of the celebrated and affluent Hadid family, which includes Alana and Marielle—children from Mohamed's first marriage to Mary Butler, which concluded in 1992—and Gigi, Bella, and Anwar, born from his union with Yolanda Hadid. The Daily Mail reports that the relationship between Hadid and Dull ended before she knew she was expecting. Yet, it appears the businessman "always knew" of his youngest daughter's existence, though he never provided financial support to her or her mother.

The supermodels' statement concluded with an appeal to the media and general public: "Aydan and her family value their privacy, and we fully respect that. We ask everyone to do the same and honor their wish and right to anonymity as she continues her life as a young woman in New York."

Nix pursued Fine Arts at Parsons School of Design, graduating on May 21, and formed bonds with the Hadid sisters while studying in Paris last year. Since then, they've maintained contact and grown closer. They follow each other on social media—Nix has 4,784 followers, Bella 61.2 million, and Gigi 76.8 million—and have been seen together often, from New York nightlife to beach getaways.

Although Nix shares some defining physical traits of the Hadids, like angular cheekbones, her upbringing was starkly different. She attended a public school in Orlando and worked as a Domino's pizza delivery driver during summers. Interestingly, she opted for a career path close to her yet-unknown sisters and moved to Manhattan to study fashion after high school. There, she interned with photographers and stylists while working at Harley's vintage clothing store.

Now graduated, Nix seeks to carve her niche in the industry dominated by her sisters, though not as a model, at least for now. Alana is a textile designer and owner of La Detresse, Marielle is an interior designer, while Gigi, Bella, and Anwar are globally recognized models. The youngest of the clan is forging her path as a designer, stylist, and aspiring influencer, according to the Daily Mail.

While the relationship between Nix and Bella and Gigi Hadid is positive and friendly, with the latter publicly acknowledging her as their sister, her bond with her father is still developing. A family source told the British media that Hadid is "cordial and kind" with Nix. "There's mutual respect, but also discretion," they noted.

The patriarch of the clan follows his youngest daughter on Instagram—he has 1.5 million followers—but has excluded her name from interviews and social media posts. Additionally, he was expected to attend her graduation in May, but, as reported by the British tabloid, canceled a week prior. According to a family source, the patriarch cares for Nix but isn't prepared to openly recognize her as his sixth child yet.
