Elsa Pataky Joins the 'El Hormiguero' Platinum Club While Avoiding Controversy
In this week's episode of Antena 3's flagship program, Elsa Pataky graced the stage of El Hormiguero once again, marking her tenth appearance and thereby becoming a member of its illustrious yet ironically modest Platinum Club. This title, achieved by visiting the show ten times, is shared by approximately seventy other guests, underscoring its frequency rather than exclusivity. To celebrate, Pataky received a commemorative mug and a nostalgic video montage, humorously highlighting that while everyone else aged, she seemingly remained unchanged. This youthful appearance is speculated to be due to her rigorous ice bath routine or perhaps an abundance of resources and leisure time.
Pataky's visit was primarily to unveil her new psychological thriller series, Matices, debuting on SkyShowtime. The series, featuring co-stars Maxi Iglesias, Juana Acosta, and Eusebio Poncela, weaves a suspenseful narrative reminiscent of classic thrillers like Color of Night. It involves a psychiatrist who gathers six patients in a winery, only for a crime to unfold—a plot sure to intrigue viewers and perhaps raise questions from professional psychiatrists.
The anticipation surrounding Pataky's interview was palpable, especially after a previous appearance sparked a campaign by the Ministry of Equality, much to the chagrin of the show's host, Pablo Motos. This time, the conversation tactfully avoided any provocative topics such as lingerie, focusing instead on Pataky's sentiments about Spain and her linguistic shifts since living abroad. Her remarks, though simple, were heartfelt, expressing her longing for Spanish social life and cuisine, specifically jamón, while noting her gradual inclination to think in English.
Adding to the evening's entertainment, chef David de Jorge brought his signature exuberance to the show's culinary segment, crafting a dish humorously dubbed Maki Pataky. Despite the late hour, the cooking demonstration—complete with household items like a pastry bag and ponzu sauce—captivated the audience and showcased the show's creative flair. Pataky, known for her roles in Mad Max and Fast & Furious, displayed her acting chops by feigning amazement at the spectacle, further cementing her status as a versatile and engaging star.
