Aitana Surprises Fans in Disguise on 'El Hormiguero'
In her tenth appearance on 'El Hormiguero', Aitana, now part of the show's illustrious platinum club alongside stars like Elsa Pataky, brought a delightful surprise for her fans. Disguised as a delivery person, helmet and all, the singer visited several homes, capturing the heartwarming reactions with hidden cameras.
As the unsuspecting fans opened their doors, believing they were simply participating in a recording for a free pizza, they were met with the unexpected sight of Aitana herself. “Would you prefer a pizza, or maybe a record?” she teased one fan after revealing her identity. This visit was part of promoting her new album, cleverly hidden inside a cardboard box she delivered.
Overwhelmed by the surprise, her fans, all young women, responded with hugs and tears. One fan, clutching a doll resembling Aitana, shared how Aitana's influence had brought her and her best friend together. Another fan excitedly called her father to share the extraordinary moment: “Dad, Aitana just appeared at my house!”
Aitana expressed her gratitude on Antena 3’s 'El Hormiguero', sharing it was her first time visiting a fan's home and seeing her own poster on their wall. “It was a surreal experience meeting them; they couldn't have been sweeter. Thank you for the wonderful gift,” she said. Previously, the show had featured a similar segment with Rosalía disguised as a street reporter, where many recognized her despite the costume.
Adding to the excitement, Aitana's latest album, 'Cuarto azul', was released this Friday. The album, with 19 tracks, was introduced to 13,000 fans at a 'listening party' in the Movistar Arena. During her discussion on 'El Hormiguero,' Aitana shared her journey of overcoming depression while creating the album, revealing she is still on medication. “It was a tough year mentally, but I'm getting better. I started feeling more like myself around Christmas,” she confided.
This emotional journey is also documented in her Netflix series 'Metamorfosis', where she embraces her vulnerability. She aims to show her real self, stating, “I'm not the perfect girl, nor do I want to be. I want to show my vulnerable side.”
The theme of her album, 'Cuarto azul', reflects her emotional struggles and healing process. “The album has two parts: the darkness stemming from anxiety and depression, leading to light and healing in the blue room, where I return to my roots,” she explained. This 'blue room' was her childhood sanctuary until the age of nine.
Aitana opened up about her battle with depression, which was diagnosed during the filming of her documentary. She emphasized the importance of therapy, which was a new experience for her: “I was hesitant about medication, but it helped stabilize me. A key takeaway from therapy was: 'This will pass, but you must experience it calmly and heal gradually.'”
Discussing her new album with Motos, Aitana described herself as a vulnerable, organized, and perfectionist individual, acknowledging her mistakes and the growth they inspired. One standout track, a collaboration with Alaska titled 'La chica perfecta', reflects her past struggles with perfectionism. “I've always tried to please everyone, fearing criticism. I pursued perfection, but now I embrace my imperfections,” she concluded.
