Budget Agreement Reached Between Popular Party and Vox in the Balearic Islands

May 30, 2025, 08:14

In a move that underscores the evolving political dynamics in Spain, the Popular Party and Vox have successfully negotiated a regional budget agreement in the Balearic Islands. According to governmental sources from the archipelago, this accord marks a significant collaboration between the two parties. Notably, Marga Prohens, the Balearic president, becomes the second influential figure within the Popular Party to secure such a pact with Vox, following the lead of Carlos Mazón in the Valencian Community.

The recent alliance in Valencia had already set a precedent, with the leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, encouraging other regional leaders to consider similar agreements with Santiago Abascal's formation, Vox. As a result, the Balearic Islands now join this growing list of regions where strategic alliances are shaping public finance management.

The Prohens administration is expected to disclose the specific details of this agreement later today, a development that could have far-reaching implications for both local governance and the broader political landscape in Spain.
