Hurricane Season Unleashes in Mexico: A Meteorological Overview
As this year's hurricane season commences in the Pacific region of Mexico, the meteorological event known as ‘Bárbara’ has transitioned from a hurricane to a tropical storm. This transformation occurred on Monday night, mere hours after ‘Bárbara’ reached hurricane status with winds peaking at 75 miles per hour, as reported by the U.S. National Hurricane Center.
Concurrently, the tropical storm ‘Cosme’ is progressing toward the Baja California peninsula, exhibiting sustained winds of 68 miles per hour. Despite this movement, authorities have indicated that there is currently no anticipated threat to Mexico.
Mexico's geographical location subjects it to annual impacts from hurricanes, typically occurring between May and November. These weather phenomena affect both the Pacific coastline and the Atlantic Ocean, highlighting the nation's vulnerability to climatic extremes.
