Small Zaragoza Town Prepares for Influx of Chinese Workers
Figueruelas, nestled in the province of Zaragoza and home to just 1,200 residents, is on the brink of a transformative venture. This small town will soon host over 2,200 Chinese nationals as part of a monumental business initiative.
What's happening? The Chinese corporation CATL is gearing up to establish Europe's largest electric battery manufacturing facility here, specifically designed to supply Stellantis—a conglomerate encompassing well-known brands like Opel, which also has a factory in Figueruelas.
Facing a challenge: This scenario is not entirely unfamiliar to Figueruelas. Four decades ago, the town adapted to the arrival of Americans, Germans, and Japanese, who played a crucial role in constructing the Opel factory there.
