Renowned Muralist Sfhir Crafts a 350 Square Meter Artwork in Arganda del Rey
The celebrated Madrid-based street artist, known by his alias Sfhir (Hugo Lomas), is renowned globally for his mural masterpieces. Last week, he embarked on a new project in Arganda del Rey, crafting an expansive mural spanning 350 square meters, dedicated to honoring both music and women.
This project, while significant, does not surpass his largest work in the Comunidad de Madrid. His mural, titled La Musa de Vistalegre, graces the facade of the Vistalegre Palace in Carabanchel and measures over 1,100 square meters. Additionally, Sfhir has contributed to the artistic initiative Muratalaz in the Moratalaz district, with his mural Synesthesia (woman with guitar) located at 112 Fuente Carrantona Street. The Museum of Urban Art of Fuenlabrada (MAUF) also showcases another of his prominent works, Sirena.
Arganda del Rey aims to cement its position on the national urban art scene through this collaboration with an internationally acclaimed artist. As stated by the local council, Sfhir was honored in 2023 as the world's best muralist for his piece La Violonchelista in Fene, A Coruña. With over 33,000 followers on social media, Sfhir is celebrated for his hyper-realistic style, striking visual impact, and dedication to social themes.
The mural is being painted on the facade of a building in the Era Vedia area, celebrating various elements of music and the women from the community. Mayor Alberto Escribano announced this endeavor as the first collaboration with Sfhir, encouraging residents to witness the creation process of a new masterpiece by the world's top muralist. This step promises to elevate Arganda del Rey to the status of some of the world's leading cities in urban art.
